I don't have any children so I pretend that my trees are my children. I planted them long ago and I have put a great deal of time and effort over the years into weeding and raking around them and fertilizing them from time to time. They will outlive me I am sure. I have planted trees in various yards that I've had over the years and even though I may not own the property sometimes I will see it years later and say - I planted that and my look how it has grown.
It's nice to know that even after I am long gone the trees I planted will live on providing shade and fruit in some cases to people perhaps for many lifetimes. I do not regret any tree that I have ever planted even though I may never get to see it again. I believe God blesses us with abundance when we plant and care for a tree. As I look back over the years I can recall planting a weeping willow tree in front of my first house in Houston, 32 Medjool date palms in the yard I have now along with grapefruit, lime, lemon and orange trees. We also care for trees that people planted who lived here before us such as 2 pear trees and a weeping willow. Today we have been talking about
getting a Fruit Cocktail Tree that we plan to start in a large pot and perhaps plant it in a sunny spot in the yard later.
It bears 5 kinds of fruit and since we are limited for clear plantable space I though I would try it out. It is supposed to bear 2 types of plums, peaches, apricot, nectarines, so I am really excited to see how fast it will grow.
