I just ordered 2 Fruit Cocktail trees for my yard and am looking forward to seeing how well they do here in Florida. You are supposed to get Peaches, Plums, Nectarines, and Apricots from them. I know those types of fruit need a period of cold weather for dormancy and I am hoping that we get enough cold weather long enough so it will produce.
It gets pretty cold every winter for about 2-3 months where my yard is...and I have 2 pear trees that produce a little. We aren't sure if they do not produce more for lack of pollination because they get plenty of flowers on them.
It also could be because we are not fertilizing them properly as Ed may not be using the correct fertilizer and may need to buy some specific to that type of fruit tree. You can't use citrus tree fertilizer on pear trees...and I don't think miracle grow works for very long either. Ed is doing better with the citrus trees each year as he learns more about what they need and is taking better care of them lately. I am good at weeding and raking but am not around enough to do fertilizing and need to learn more about what needs what. You can click on the Buy button below for more information about the Fruit cocktail trees and the price which is about $20 each.
