I would love to be able to garden without using any sprays or pesticides but here in Florida it is very difficult. Maybe I just don't have the patience or virtue it takes to do organic gardening. The bugs are so prolific you will want to cry when you see what they can do to your tomatoes and cabbages. I use powder as much as possible and only spray when that doesn't work. I have tried planting using tin cans to keep the bugs off but that didn't work for me here. Maybe in a northern climate it is easier as I remember in New England we didn't have all the bug problems we have here in Florida. I don't recall mom ever using any kind of bug killer on anything we were growing when I was a kid.
